The Knights of Columbus will be hosting
an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Saturday, September 13, 2014. The drive will be conducted in the Parish Hall from 9 am until 1 pm. Each year, the American Red Cross experiences a shortage of blood supplies shortly following the holidays. This shortage will be especially severe in the more rare blood categories. It is for that reason that the St. James community conducts its drive then, to help out with the shortage. Help Is Needed On The Upcoming Church Yard Sale - 10/16/2013The message below is from the Vice-President of the Altar Society regarding the upcoming St. James Yard Sale .
To: Knights of Columbus Council #9365 The Knights have been outstanding in support of the annual yard sale. This event is the major source of revenue for the Altar Society. Virtually all of the revenue is used to finance projects vital to St. James. Once more we need your help. This year the yard sale will be held on Saturday, November 2 from 7 AM to noon. The preparation days are Wednesday, October 30, Thursday, October 31, and Friday, November 1 from 9 AM to 8 PM. We really need 1 to 3 Knights to help us during the prep and yard sale hours. The main event during prep days is to help move items from automobiles to the church hall. Also to help with pricing and most importantly escort ladies to their cars after dark. On Saturday, Knights would help move heavy items to automobiles and to help monitor the traffic as buyers are searching and paying for items purchased. If you are willing to help for any number of hours on any day, please me send an e-mail at raymar@buggs.net or call me at (434)636-2344 and I will summarize and post your name with the Altar Society workers. You can also sign-up online using the following link, http://www.stjamescatholichenderson.org/yard-sale-sign-up.html. We really appreciate your support. Thank you so much. Letter From Field Agent - 11/01/2013
What you don't know
about long-term care may jeopardize your retirement. Chances are you've put
something away for retirement. But the truth is that your savings may be at
risk from something you've never considered: the unexpected need for
long-term care. Consider the following facts:
• Over 70% of those who live to retirement age will need long-term care at some time in their lives. • Medicare has limited long-term coverage,² TRICARE does not cover long-term care, and Medicaid only offers support after your assets are spent down to state-required levels. • Receiving care in a nursing facility can cost as much as $75,000 a year. • In-home care averages over $19 an hour, not including home modifications you may need. The Knights of Columbus Long Term Care insurance can help you cope with the cost of long-term custodial care while maintaining your dignity and choice of care options. The right time to protect yourself with this insurance is....before you need it! While you can apply for K of C Long Term Care until the age of 85, the chart below depicts the cost of waiting.
