Our Council recently sponsored a successful American Red Cross blood donation drive here at St. James Church, and we want to thank the many donors who took the time to make a donation. We were able to gather 21 units of blood, which means that about 63 persons in need of blood products were able to be assisted, and we are quite proud of being able to help. We are planning another blood drive in a few months and hope that we can match and exceed our totals from our recent drive. Thanks again to the members of our community who helped with this worthy cause. God Bless!

About Our Council
Parker-Wood Council is located at St. James Parish in Henderson on 3275 US-158 Bypass. The Grand Knight for the Fraternal Year 2012-2013 is John Gaul. Business meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the library of the parish. The Council works closely with the parish and community in Henderson, providing funds for various projects and activities, and members being active participants in the parish.
Our council hosts a large number of activities throughout the year. Monthly activities include preparing and serving food in the Soup Kitchen at the ACTS house on the first Sunday of each month. In addition, starting November of every year the council serves at the Men's Shelter three nights every month until March. Annual activities include LAMB Drive, Blood Drive, Roadside Clean-up, St. Patrick's Day Celebration, and Fundraising activities like Chicken BBQ Plate, USO Breakfast, Spaghetti Dinner, and a lot more.
History
The council received its charter from the Supreme Council on June 26, 1986. When the council first was established it met at St. Paul’s Church in Henderson, NC. It now meets at St. James Parish in Henderson.
The Council is proud that it has become the leader in community service, church service and family unity programs within the parish. Parker-Wood Knights helped lead the effort to combine two neighboring parishes, St. Catherine's in Oxford and St. Paul's in Henderson, into the single St. James parish which exists today. Knights also have led in parish construction and expansion projects.
In addition, the council has attracted members from several generations and from both the Spanish- and English-speaking communities. With an often transitional Catholic community, the Knights have been one of the most stabilizing influences on the parish.
